Call for applications for the selection of a specialist technician for the Human Resources Office to temporarily cover a maternity leave absence at the Institute for Space Studies of Catalonia
The IEEC (Institute of Space Studies of Catalonia) was established in February 1996 as a private non-profit foundation (NPO) to promote R&D in the space field in Catalonia. The IEEC is a research institute that studies all areas of knowledge and technologies applied to the space sector and space sciences, including astrophysics, cosmology, planetary science, Earth observation, navigation and space engineering. Its mission is to push the frontiers of space research from the scientific and technological fields for the maximum benefit of society. It should also be noted that the Foundation is attached to the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government) and forms part of its institutional public sector due to the fact that the Generalitat has a majority participation in the Board of Trustees of the IEEC.
Introduction
The purpose of this call is to select a candidate to temporarily fill the position of Specialised Technician in the Human Resources Office of the Management Area of the Institut d’Estudis Espacials de Catalunya.

Functions
The Management Area is seeking to recruit a Specialised Technician to support the Human Resources Office.
The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- Publish job vacancies on the Institute’s website and on various job portals.
- Maintain employee data in the management software and on the intranet.
- Manage the time and attendance system and staff leave.
- Welcome new staff and provide initial support.
- Process student internship agreements with universities.
- Prepare the documentation required for inspections, audits and research project reporting.
- Perform other duties within the Human Resources Office.
Participation requirements and selection criteria
The following criteria will be assessed during the selection process:
- Education: A qualification at least equivalent to a Higher Vocational Training qualification in Administration and Management, or proven ability to perform the role through work experience.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in Human Resources departments is essential.
- Languages:
- Catalan language certification at level C1 of the Directorate-General for Language Policy, or equivalent.
- Native or full professional proficiency in spoken and written Spanish.
The following aspects will be considered desirable merits (Maximum 20 points):
- Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English. (up to 2 points)
- Additional training in Human Resources or administrative management will be considered. (up to 3 points)
- Experience in Human Resources departments within public sector organisations, particularly research centres attached to the public sector of the Government of Catalonia, will be considered. (up to 4 points).
- Experience with the Fundanet integrated management software. (up to 2 points).
- Experience with HR software will be considered. (up to 3 points).
- Knowledge of personal data protection and data confidentiality. (up to 2 points).
- Knowledge of national and Catalan Science Acts regarding the recruitment of research staff. (up to 2 points).
- Good written and verbal communication skills. (up to 1 point)
- Other knowledge or circumstances relevant to the position. (up to 1 point).
Selection procedure
Eligibility requirements will first be verified, and an initial shortlist of candidates will be drawn up on the basis of the documentation submitted. Candidates who do not meet the requirements of the call will not proceed to the next stage, the assessment of merits. Merits will then be assessed. Candidates who do not achieve a minimum score of 10 points will not proceed to the next stage, the personal interview. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a personal interview to expand on the information provided in their CV and assess aspects relating to professional competencies. If deemed necessary, they will be invited to take a written/oral test once the round of interviews has been completed. Once the interviews have been completed, the selection committee will meet to assess the different stages of the selection process and issue a report determining the outcome of the selection.
The selection committee for this procedure will consist of:
- a) The Director of the Management Area / IEEC General Manager, or their delegate.
- b) The Head of the Human Resources Office, or their delegate.
- c) An IEEC employee on a permanent contract from Professional Group I. Management, administration and services staff, or their delegate.
Applicants must hold the original certificates substantiating the education and work experience stated in their CV and must submit them upon request.
In compliance with the LISMI, the IEEC will consider reserving the position for candidates who provide evidence of a disability of 33% or above, provided they are suitable to perform the duties of the position.
